Somber in feeling, but I see continuing life... in the tree. Your addition of this tree is a contrast to the list of deceased, reminding us to live our lives to the fullest. I agree with Phil that monochrome is perfect for this image. Such a strong image indeed!

An eloquent testament to the brutality of war. The markings on the tree seem to be carvings of remembrance that echo the formal lists of the dead behind them. Monochrome is a timeless medium, perfect for this image.
