I love the fact that you've purposely omitted the foot and the soccer ball. It makes the boy's facial expression all the more meaningful. His expression is intense and you just know by looking at him that the missing foot made contact with the missing ball.
Even though both ball and kicking foot are missing, by abstracting them you have made the image appeal to the imagination of the viewer. We are left to see the rest in the eye of our mind. I was there with you and I heard the kicking sound before I saw him. You must have made this shot an instant after I made my own -- and it is what is missing here that makes it work so well.
