I've found that in general, Tim makes an image in portrait orientation, while Phil utilizes landscape orientation. Both are spectacular!

This is a wonderfully layered landscape heralding the cusp of a new day. You took a distant view, while I took a closer look with a longer lens (http://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/103633066 ). Your image is very delicate and accurate in color, which is typical of your style, while mine reflects my use of the warmer "cloudy" light balance that has often marked of my own approach. Your vertical frame intensifies both the height of the mountain and length of the deep valley, while my horizontal frame implies the broad width of the valley and contrasts it to the mountain's height. It continues to amaze me how two photographers can shoot the same distant subject, yet come up with entirely different expressions. But that's what we usually do when we are shooting side by side!
