Now you're the birdman of Venice! The lion had no choice, but the gull was most cooperative, giving you a great composition.

Ah, the other famous column on the Piazza San Marco -- this the famous Lion of St. Mark, whose tail so eloquently echoes the graceful curves of a passing gull. The wings of the lion also echo the wings of that gull. A well behaved gull at that -- it courteously flies below, rather than above, the winged lion.
