What makes this image work so well is the contrast in wear from handle to handle. It is obvious that either the left hand door is locked or everyone who has lived here is right handed. The fellow on the left appears a bit more downcast as well -- it is hard to never be chosen. You have made an image about the nature of choice and habit.
