Anguish Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum,Phnom Penh, Cambodia, January 2008
I almost never stage photographs much less post them. My friend Phil Douglis first noticed this idea. But I have included this because I think it does get at the anguish of the place.
I don't stage images either, but this is an eloquent symbol of what transpired in this horrific place, and I find it very moving and not at all stagey. The fingers on the hand are relaxed, and resigned rather than splayed against the window in a hokey pose. (I know whereof I speak -- that's my own hand.)
