For me, the triangle (which is wonderful) takes on a spiritual component. By cropping as you did, you removed the mundane from the making this man appear to be at peace and in a meditative state. I like it a lot!!
One can only wonder what he is thinking about so intently. The triangle he completes suggests to me he is at a standstill with whatever he is doing, contemplating what he has just done and what he will do next. Beautiful light, and portrait!
