In the mid to late 90s and before I permanently switched to Photoshop, I mostly used a program called Corel Photopaint. A version of this still exists in the Corel Drawing Suite.
In the early 90s and before I switched to Photopaint, I had 24 bit color on an Motorola 68O40 accelerated Amiga 3000 via an OpalVision Card and used Opal Paint.
In the mid 80s and long before Opal Paint I was using a far different type of paint program called Deluxe Paint on an Amiga 2000.
By today’s standards it was crude but at the time it was state of the art consumer graphics and an epiphany to me.
‘Jack_1986’ on the previous page is a very, very early project. Possibly it was a learning exercise done on a friend’s Amiga 1000 using DPaint 1 before I was using an Amiga 2000. Its as much myth as memory at this point.
As of this date (102121) that image is 35 years old and in computer years that roughly translates in human years to the Neolithic Period.
Fast forward ahead to today and I decided to do a modern version of ‘Jack’ in Photoshop. It's a reasonable facsimile given the nature of the update, although admittedly I took a few artistic liberties:)
I’m still fascinated by technological progress although realistically, I could have done this particular update in PS CS around the year 2000. For us consumers the biggest progress is in digital cameras and computers we use in this last 20 years
