Brown-headed Cowbird (Fledgling)

Lake Frederick, Virginia

This fledgling is 'hanging out' in the landscape of our backyard under our bird feeders. I don't particularly like this species, but I'm hoping the local Cooper's Hawk doesn't spot him/her.
A Chipping Sparrow pair raised him as I've been watching him being fed by the pair. The pair was also spotted feeding at least two of their own breeding. See 'previous' for another shot.
Note: On 11 May 2020, I photographed a fledgling without being able to ID it; this backyard experience allowed me to ID that fledgeling.

Good to hear the sparrows were able to raise two of their own along with this cowbird.

Nice shot, Don. Not my favorite species. Especially when you see a tiny Warblers feeding this glutton.

splendid sharp picture, what a task for the sparrow!

This guy looks exceedingly vulnerable on the ground.

Nice sharp and detailed image Don. I hope the young Chipping Sparrows survived too. Must have been quite the job for the parents to feed this guy/gal and their own too.

Small Chipping sparrows having to feed this big youngster must have been a challenge.
