From our home on the west arm of Lake Frederick, I've been hearing a Barred Owl calling for a mate.
Now mind you, the owl is across the west arm of water and back up a very steep bank among the thickets of pine/evergreens.
So, this afternoon, after hearing the owl, I beat feet down to water's edge with a small hand held recorder & my camera.
As it turned out, I moved towards Crooked Run trying to follow the owl's movement for a glimpse of him; no such luck.
I did get recordings of several distant calls; and I got this first this season shot of the Louisiana Waterthrush.
