American White Pelicans

Steamboat Springs, Colorado

Mad Creek Trail - out Elk River Road - is an excellent hiking trail in Steamboat Springs. While hiking the trail, a flock of maybe 12 individuals were circling in the updraft created by the canyon. This image is about half the flock.
Along with the pelicans, you can see the white bright spots; they are Cottonwood Tree seeds - - at times, during the 11 day stay, these seeds were everywhere in the air; someone with an allergy to them would be in trouble here.
