Red-winged Blackbird

Lake Frederick, Virginia

During the 25+ years my wife and I lived in Warrenton, VA, occasionally in winter we'd get blackbirds visiting our feeders. Here at Lake Frederick, I'm getting a single male visiting our backyard feeder in Spring.

What an unusual (at least for me) and beautiful blackbird! Ours are all black with just a dark blue metallic sheen and with a nice yellow beak. Your photo is very beautiful, with great sharpness that brings out the details.
