Northern Shrike

Centreville, Virginia

This one seems to be by himself and hunting from small low trees in a controlled burn area that's part of Sully Woodlands Park.
This species won't tolerate a birder getting too close; took some 30 shots handheld at a long way out to get maybe 4 acceptable images.
Image taken on 28 Feb early afternoon - camera time incorrect.
Best viewed in 'original' size.

Nice work, Don. They are tough to photograph.
