American Goldfinch (non-breeding)

Warrenton, Virginia

These finches become pretty plain (in comparison to their breeding colors) this time of year.
This one is feeding heavily on Crape Myrtle seedpods at the top of the trees.
I'm still comparing Leica's D-LUX 4 and X2 P&S cameras for digiscoping use. I'm still not sure which is best for digiscoping.
See 'previous' image for D-LUX 4 image taken from same tripod and scope settings.
Best viewed in 'original' size.
