Feb 1, 2006 Luke

I am the great grand nephew of Carter Godwin Woodson. He was the 2nd African American man to earn a PhD here in the USA. He is also credited with the awareness of Black History and produced a journal. We celebrate Black History Month in February partly due to his efforts. I offer this common bread as token of our commonalities and need for interdependence here and forever more.

Having done a lot of genealogy research on my own over the past thirty years, I have seen how grattifying it is to know your own family history. Thanks for sharing the thoughts and the wonderful image Luke. You are a wise man.

Beautiful, warm image. Thanks for sharing the info about your family history. I'll think of that whenever I see something about Black History Month.
