Many thanks for your very kind feedback. I take your point about the stark contrast. Like my most street work, this shot was taken almost instantly. Had I taken a little more time I could have adjusted the exposure compensation on my Minolta 7xi to reduce the contrast somewhat.
As you suggest, cropping is another alternative.
Strak contrast however suggests the 'bright' life outside and the dark life this little girl is living and a possible dark future she may have.
this really does leave one speechless. might be stronger with some of the right side cropped out to reduce the stark contrast between lighter and more somber tones, but then that could have been your artistic intent. Luke
