Cot Daerah, Sumatra, Indonesia (Jan. 18, 2005) – Local personnel gather around a U.S. Navy SH-60F Seahawk assigned to Helicopter Anti-submarine Squadron Two (HS-2) while delivering needed food, water, and medical supplies to the village. Members of the United Nations (UN) and World Health Organization (WHO) Assessment Team, currently staying on board USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), are currently conducting surveys in the region of Aceh, Sumatra, to determine the needs of the local population displaced by the tsunami that struck South East Asia on Dec. 26, killing over 150,000 people. The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group is currently operating in the Indian Ocean off the waters of Indonesia and Thailand in support of Operation Unified Assistance.
