Assisi to the Republic of San Marino, via Urbino:
Today I thought I felt better and started off in the “sporty” position on the short ride, but couldn’t get my head in the game, making one mistake after another. Keith and Benn were directly behind me and noticed this also. It was after I went off the road to pass a car that Benn took the initiative to pass me so that I could follow his line. Benn braked excessively in the corners to give me a warning of upcoming dangers and tight turns. It wasn’t soon after, that I waved Keith on to pass. After our stop in Urbino I was feeling much better and was able to partake in the “sporty” ride into San Marino, just ahead of the rain. San Marino at night with the low clouds, drizzle and lighted fortifications was like going back several hundred years in time. I tried to take some pictures of this, but without a tripod all the pictures came out blurry. At dinner Gerry ordered a bottle of wine that he called “Superb”, being a “Boons Farm” kind of guy I immediately noticed how good it was. We soon ordered another, but the waiter brought us something different, He insisted that it was the same, even though the labels where different. Amy tasted it and then sent the bottle back, “Kudos” to her. I sure wish I could have understood Italian, because he was grumbling this and that under his breath. The waiter was still mad the next morning at breakfast when he served us.
