I swung by our family house one last time tonight after work. I had to leave my house key. It seems weird! My family has lived in
houses in Virginia, Massachusetts, eastern Pennsylvania and here, but this is the home my parents have owned the longest.
The home in Massachusetts was hard to leave. It was where I spent most of my growing up years, but this house has so
many memories. So many phases, so much growth, so many changes to my family and for me personally, so much
history! Maybe part of it is the downsizing that went on during this move for my parents.
A lot of family history was remembered and shared.

I walked through this completely empty house tonight. No one else was there. Nothing left in the rooms. Had my final thoughts and
memories. A last look at my old bedroom, a final glance where our Christmas tree stood every year for 25 years, one last glance
in the dining room where so many holidays and birthdays were celebrated….. I love the new place my parents have moved into,
and I know they are happy! This is just an end to an era, and I am slow to embrace change. I know that about myself.
But there are new memories to make – just elsewhere! I am so blessed to have my family!
This is merely a house. A home is where the ones you love live!

Final farewell to our home of 25 years...

I believe I can understand exactly what you were feeling. I like the perspective here, too. A look back as you were leaving.

Agree with Pat, a wonderful tribute to the place that sheltered you and your family for so long.

It is a good thing we each have a heart which can hold such deep-felt memories even as we abandon the physical structures in which they were created.
