Canon EOS 350DX vs Nikon D70

After a year after Canon launched EOS 300D and Nikon launched D70, Canon entered market with EOS 350DX. Announced as the Digital Rebel's successor, it is considered as the real D70's rival, in contrast to EOS 300D that failed in many respects to became one. I had recently a nice opportunity to spend a week with EOS350DX, using it simultaneously with D70. Camera was equipped with 17-85mm f4-5.6 EF-S IS lens, more appropriate match IMO than cheap 18-55 "kit lens". To make a fair comparison, I used Nikkor 18-70 f3.5-4.5 on D70. So, here are some real-life shots, along with Imatest lab tests...
