Tapirs are related to horses and rhinoceroses. There are four species of tapirs and all of them are either endangered or vulnerable.

Tapirs weigh between 500 and 800 lbs (225 to 360 kg). They live 25 to 30 years.

There are no longer any Tapirs at the San Francisco Zoo, unfortunately.
