Our Camera Club went to Castello di Amorosa in Calistoga, CA, a grand reproduction of a 13th century medieval castle winery, for our November photo outing.
107 rooms, 121,000 square feet, and four underground levels and four above-ground levels.
Castello di Amorosa is considered an architectural masterpiece with all the elements of an authentic medieval castle: a moat, drawbridge, five towers, high defensive ramparts, courtyards and loggias, a chapel, stables, an armory, and even a torture chamber. It also contains some of the most beautiful vaulted wine cellars in the world.
It took 15 years to build and opened in 2007.
