We had a nice visit to Muir Woods National Monument in Aug 2005, taking my Mom for a fun outing.
It started out cold and foggy, but ended up sunny and beautiful.
Adding more shots as I get them. . .
These trees are old-growth coastal redwoods. Very few places have old-growth forests remaining.
The trees in this park average 600-800 years old, but the oldest is 1100 years old!
They can live up to 2200 years, so ours are still "young" so to speak.
The tallest here is about 258 feet. Further north, coastal redwoods reach up to 367 feet.
