The N-11 variety of the 1846 large cent is the only variety known as "Medium Date".
This darkly colored coin's obverse is very nice if a bit odd colored.
The reverse suffers from some corrosion in the fields.
One has to wonder if this coin was recolored or otherwise worked on,
or just was stored in an fashion as to tone this purplish color.
