This is one of the small date varieties of the 1846 Large Cent. The example shown here is a nice crusty circulated example of the N-1 variety. It can be identified by the repunched 18 and the distinctive date font size on the obverse. On the reverse, the diagnostic die crack is also clearly seen. This is a common variety, only R-1.

An obverse scratch and verdigris on both sides are noted on this evenly chocolate colored large cent.
