Here is a Rarity 2 example of the 1843 Petite Head Large Cent.
The Petite Head is also known as the "Head of 1840". This example is a "Small Letters" variety so named for the size of lettering on the reverse in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
This coin exhibits evenly toned chocolate brown surfaces -- perhaps a bit too even to be original. A few rim disturbances are noted. The previous shortcomings noted, this coin is still very attractive in-hand.
This coin was purchased from H. Craig Hamling Rare Coins.
