Wildlife of Ann Arbor

Many people view Ann Arbor as a run off the mill university town. Yes, it is a town centered around the University of Michigan but that doesnt mean that it is devoid of any wildlife. Contrary to what most people think, Ann Arbor is actually teeming with flora and fauna.

Unfortunately, not many students stop to appreciate how close they actually are to Michigan's natural inhabitants. Students in North Campus are greeted rather regularly by deer, chipmunks and the occasional skunk. Matthaei Botanical Gardens boasts a conservatory filled with plants from around the globe. Even the more urbanized Central Campus is densely populated with squirrels that dont mind being fed by hand.

Personally, I just find it really fantastic that we get such a great mix of what is man-made and what is of nature here. This is my tribute to that wonderful co-existence.
