Michael, I'm trying to contact you about using your work in the upcoming issue of Zeek magazine. I work with the art editor, and we love your stuff. Would you be able to contact me ASAP - we want some of your images for the September issue.

I was really moved by the photograph of your grandfather - it is ironic that the photo basically shows an outline - which is what remains after the alzheimers takes over. You have a gift - keep it up.

Thanks for visiting my pbase gallery. To answer your question, the 70-200 f/4L is great! Before I bought the 100-400, I had the 70-200 f/4L on my camera (10D and then 20D) 95% of the time. I still prefer the 70-200 to the 100-400 for bicycle racing and other times that I don't need the 400mm reach.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for your comments in my gallery. I like the feel of your pictures which are very pleasant to look at and seems to reflect your personality as a photographer. I'm no expert, but I'm trying to break out of my "mold" and be more audacious and bold. Maybe that might work for you too. Thanks for sharing.

Mike
I've been back for a longer look
postcard tree,
I'm a fan of B&W and love the snow on the branches and floor has a kind of dark christmas feel to it, think it would make a good abstract christmas card.

Lonely tools,
I think some must have called tea break time as it looks like it's just been dropped in the mad rush for tea, again I like this one being that it's in B&W makes it stand out a little more.

The lamp,
Just like this one for the way the lamp shde is highlighted against the black background.

Kitchen stove,
Like with the lamp but this being in colour, it's just the way the orange light is bouncing off the cold steel giving kind of white gold feel.

Vivid flowers,
Just like the colours and the shapes a nice photo

I've picked out these as to me I like and I like the way you've captured them, keep up the good work as you have the workings of a good gallery forming and you should be proved of it.....

Mike,
Nice shots, one thing I have learnt recently from a wildlife photograper is the when shooting wildlife you should always make sure that the eyes are clearly seen and that they are in perfect focus. One of my shots I have on Pbase are not and thats's because I didn't have my depth of field set right, I'll rmeber next time. I'm no expert, trust me, but I think you're on the right track. Are you with a camera club, if not join, as you can learn so much from others. Also just keep looking through the photos in Pbase and they will give you some very good ideas. I have just joined Pbase so my galleries are small at the moment. My photos are nothing to brag about but I just keep practicing.
Good luck and take care

Hey Mike, welcome to pbase. It looks like you're off to a great start. Pbase is a great place to develop your skills - you obviously have both the enthusiasm and great equipment. The only suggestion I might have is that you have a number of repeat images, and you might just choose one in order to keep your galleries a little leaner. Other than that, everything looks great. Hint: if you haven't done so already, stick that 17-40 on your film camera and fire off a roll at 17mm. You'll find that you get a lot of really cool, kick ass shots. Best, Lucas.

Hi Michael. Good start to your PBase galleries. I like the people and nature shots.
If you want to get noticed, give your pictures names as lots of people do searches for different things. A look at the popular keywords:http://search.pbase.com/search?view=popular will give you an idea what people look for. You could also add comments to your pictures to make them more interesting.
Also you may want to resize your pictures to a smaller size. Posting them full size will soon eat into your storage space. Especiallly when you get over 3000 pictures like I have.
Leave comments on other galleries you look at, people will soon come to see what you have to offer.
I hope you don't mind the comments but you did ask for people to check them out. Good Luck.
