At Öststugan

An old building adjacent to the main house. This building, like the
house itself, is under renovation. Now I wish I had taken some
close-up shots of the old, old wooden timbers.

You see buildings with timbers like this all over Sweden. (Structures we in
the U.S. would consider downright ancient are only sort-of-old in Sweden.)

That red, we've been told, is a special paint. The color derives from copper --
a by-product of substantial copper mining, which left huge "tailings" at the mines.
I don't know if they still use copper in the paint -- it's pretty toxic stuff. (But it
apparently also provides a very high-quality paint job.) Wonderful color...

Driving through the swedish countryside, I have found myself adoring and loving all these reddish small barns, that are spread all over sweden... I love this reddish colour
