The MV "Pasha Bulker" aground at Nobbys Beach, Newcastle,

On 8 June 2007, at Newcastle, NSW Australia, the MV Pasha Bulker, a 40,000 tonne coal carrier, was washed ashore during a major storm, ending up on Nobbys Beach, one of Newcastle's most popular beaches.
After a couple of unsuccessful attempts, the ship was finally towed free on July 2, with a minor leak in the outer hull,a large crease where the starboard hull had buckled, and a damaged rudder and propellor. Next to photo "a near miss" I've included a chart overlaid onto an aerial photo (from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority) which shows the reefs all around her. It was lucky she came ashore onto the beach at high tide and missed all the rocks !!
