In January 2017 I went on an exploratory snorkeling trip with Andaman Snorkel Discovery to the Mergui Archipelago in Myanmar. The islands, like much of the old Burma, had been off limits for many years and have only recently been opened to dive boats. As one of the very first snorkel tours to visit we were hoping for lots of fish and pristine coral reefs, but unfortunately I was a bit disappointed. Not so much marine life, poor visibility, average coral, and lots of rubbish washed up on the islands' beaches. For some more photos of this trip from above water, see this gallery : https://pbase.com/mike_n/underwater_myanmar Still, even a bad day's snorkeling is better than most, and I did see some new fish and get some half decent photos.(most shot with Canon G7X in Canon housing, some with GoPro Hero 5 Black)
