This is a Mute Swan with a baby at Manzanita Lake on the UNR campus. Unfortunately, they had started with 3 babies, which was down to one by the time I got there. Sadly, Paul and I went back there the following weekend, and it was gone. Seems like such large birds could defend their babies, but I guess not, as I have never seen more than the 2 adults when fall comes.
