Image taken at Taylor Creek which runs into the south end of Lake Tahoe. Every fall, the Kokanee Salmon spawn up this creek in a spectacular display. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten a good image of the fish yet, but I'll keep trying. This is a female Common Merganser and they are quite the fish hunters. I didn't get as many shots of them catching fish this year as last. Don't know why, but they seem to eat mostly trout, but don't eat the Kokanee even though there are thousands of them. It's possible that a poor water year produced less trout than last year.
