These photos were taken with an IR modified Panasonic Lumix GF-1. All digital camera sensors are covered by an IR blocking filter to limit their sensitivity to longer wavelengths beyond red. With this mod the IR filter is removed and then a filter that cuts out all visible light is added over the sensor. This makes the sensor sensitive only to the IR wavelengths, so composition and focus checking is best done on a live screen as IR focuses at a slightly different position to visible light. The results can be very interesting, foliage turns white as it reflects a lot of IR, clear skies are near black. Some "false colour" can also be added, or the photo can be turned to pure B&W.
