Alport Castles

I walked to this location in the evening from Ladybower Reservoir. The Tower is an impressive mound of gritstone which formed from a landslide (supposedly the largest in the U.K) at the end of the last ice age. A birch tree in vibrant spring foliage seems to of colonised the rock slide with a photographer in mind…! A bit of photo blending was used to help lighten the shadow created by the tower.
