There are many claims made regarding the most beautiful part of England, but none have as strong a shout as Cumbria's Lake District. Inviting in summer, imposing and potentially deadly in winter, but stunning whatever the season. Many visitors come to England and never get past London or Oxford, and it is truly their loss.
