150mm at ISO100 - easy for snapshot at a distance	100% crop (centre sharpness is good)	400mm at ISO400 - easy for snapshot at a distance	100% crop (details in watch)
400mm at ISO200 - easy for snapshot at a distance	100% crop (the logo in the can)	720mm at ISO100 - 3m is the shortest focal distance at 720mm in normal mode (2-5m for macro mode).	100% crop (staff card details could not be seen - handshake?)

From my rough measurement, for single shot, the shutter lag and file storage time is about: (1) jpg shot - 2s (2) raw shot - 5s (3) raw + jpg shots - 7s In continuous shooting mode, the delay is about: (1) jpg (max. 10fps - but only 7 frames could be recorded) - 10s (2) raw (max. 5fps - but only 6 frames could be recorded) - 22s (3) raw + jpg (max 5fps - but only 5 frames could be recorded) - 24s

Hi Jacky, Thank you for this review. It really helps a lot. You should get commission from finpix, because this site closed the deal for me. There is one think I would like to know. In the fast shoot mode. 7 pix at 10 FPS. After taken one burst, how long before you can take the next burst? I ask because with my other camera you will have to wait i while for the camera to clear its buffer and that can take a long time. Thank you Theunis

Hi Rubik, HS10 is not very good in focusing fast moving objects, expecially in the long zoom end. You may use external flash unit (with high output power) if you really want to take photos in low light situation where artificial lighting is permitted.

Hi Jacky Thanks for the link. I must have been very clumsy in explaining what I wanted. Nice photos though. We attend a lot of swim meets, all indoor competitions. I see large cannon lenses and expensive cameras. I can not afford those DSLRs. I was hoping that the HS10 would do OK for indoor shooting in poorish lighting, clearly the flash will be of no use because of the long distances involved. I am sold on the HS10's use outdoors, thanks to your photos. I am just concerned in shelling out a lot of money if I can not use it to take fast moving swim action photos. I will not need to enlarge more than A4 prints. Thanks for your help

HS10 is very suitable to take photos of snapshots and street candids. No one would even notice that you are taking photos with him/her with such a small gear. HS10 is rather so small in size that you would not disturb your objects and you can capture the most natural expressions of the people.
