The Holocaust forces us to grapple with the existence of evil and suffering.
It challenges us to find faith and optimism in the face of devastation and despair.
It awes us as we encounter heroes of the spirit who fought for truth and decency
in the darkest of times.
Course Synopsis: The Holocaust - A view From The Soul
This is a six-week adult-ed course, endorsed by Marywood and Penn State Universities,
as well as over 100 holocaust centers around the world, which examines the framework
that Jewish tradition provides for difficult times. What does the Holocaust teach us
about G-d and humanity? What message does the Holocaust convey about the search for
values? How will the memories of the past help to chart a life-course for us and for
future generations?
This course is not intended to teach the history of the Holocaust and will be
appropriate for those who find Holocaust material difficult to study. The course
is intended to open new windows of understanding into finding meaning and
inspiration in a post-Holocaust world.
