The Philadelphia Zoo is not exactly out in the wild, but getting a good shot of these beauties is problematic when the sun is bright and the shadows are horrendous. One has to be patient, hoping for the sun, just for an instant to get cover from a cloud, to give this photographer a chance for a well exposed shot -- and then, hopefully the bird will cooperate with a decent pose. I was almost really lucky with this shot, but at the last moment, the Flamingo turned its head and I missed the eye. I stuck around for a while, hoping to get the eye, but each time there was an opportunity, the sun would come out and the combination of the shadows and strong rays of the Philly sun made it impossible to expose well. Ah well, maybe next time. Photo by Michael Weinberg Photography of Clarks Summit and Scranton, Pennsylvania
