On May 15, 2005, the Hon. Joseph J. Corcoran, former Lackawanna County Commisioner, was awarded the prestigioius Amos Lodge #136, B'nai B'rith Americanism Award, at a dinner, in his honor, at the Jewish Community Center of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Though most of the guests were dignitaries and supporters from the ranks of the Democratic Party, the event more of a personal than a political acclaimation of Joseph Corcoran's accomplishments.
