Republican County Commissioner of Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, Robert Cordaro,
elected on the promise of not raising real estate taxes, has come to the understanding,
at this meeting, that it is necessary for the county to increase property taxes up to 40%.
It was with total astonishment, that members of his own party are now talking about
supporting the democrat in the next election. Commissioner Cordaro is hoping that this move,
so early in his administration, will hot hurt him politically in the future.
Unfortuneately for Cordaro, the voters always remember the ones who cost them money,
especially in an area as depressed as Scranton and Lackawanna County.
The Lackawanna County Commissioners meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month
at 10:00 AM on the 6th floor of the County Courthouse Annex Building, Adams Ave., Scranton.
The meetings are taped and rebroadcast the week following the meeting. Lackawanna
County Commissioners are Commissioner Robert Cordaro, Commissioner A.J. Munchak,
and Commissioner Randy Castellani.
