Gagnon had the love for the game of tennis in the mid 70s when you watched Jimmy Connors and Arthur Ashe meet in the finals at Wimbledon. He also began playing on a regular basis even though he lived in NH and played during the four seasons of the year. In 1987, Gagnon had the opportunity through two small publications in NH to photograph the US Open. He also worked with a Sporting Goods store in Boston that paid the expenses for the two weeks in New York. Gagnon photographed at the US Open from 1987 to 1996. During that time, Gagnon met at the tournment Alan Alda, Alan King, Wilt Chamberlain, Gabriela Sabatini, Johnny Carson, and a memorable meeting with Debbie Gibson. In fact, in this part of the site, you will see Debbie Gibson wearing Gagnon's t shirt that he bought at the event. Debbie Gibson and Gagnon were caught in a down pour in '88 and she was drenched in an embarressing moment. Debbie gave Gagnon back the t shirt the day after. They were under shelter between the Grand Stand and Louis Armstrong courts. Gagnon has also photographed at Lipton in Miami, the Family Circle Cup in Hilton SC, and a tournment in North Conway, NH.

After Gagnon moved to Florida, Gagnon has invited to a Juvenile Diabetes Event where he met some of the tennis greats that he photographed at the US Open. He met up with Zina Garrison where incidentally he bidded on a photograph of her taken by Gagnon which was accepted into the Tennis Hall of Fame as a Permanent Collection. Gagnon has assembled a collage titled The Tennis Hall of Fame collage which is an assemblage of photographs that was also accepted by the Int'l Tennis Hall of Fame and Museum in Newport RI.
