Co.Donegal

County Donegal, a name derived from the Gaelic Dun nan Gall which means Fort of the Foreigner, always has been an isolated area of Ireland and is not yet discovered by the average tourist. Do not expect fancy hotels and restaurants, but enjoy the pure, greasy, pub-food and squeaking beds or Davey Tweedies cottage in Ardara.
The isolation reveals itself for example in the main language. Donegal is a so-called Gaeltacht, an area where Gaelic is the main language
