Co.Donegal

County Donegal, a name derived from the Gaelic Dun nan Gall which means Fort of the Foreigner, always has been an isolated area of Ireland and is not yet discovered by the average tourist. Do not expect fancy hotels and restaurants, but enjoy the pure, greasy, pub-food and squeaking beds or Davey Tweedies cottage in Ardara.
The isolation reveals itself for example in the main language. Donegal is a so-called Gaeltacht, an area where Gaelic is the main language

I have a painting by R W Young; it has a house with a thached roof and hills; also water and a road going to the house. Printed on the back "ON THE ATLANTIC DRIVE CO, DUNEGAL.
Do you have any information about the painting and the artist.

MY HUSBAND AND I VISIT DONEGALL AS MY BROTHER HAS A HOUSE THERE, WE WERE VISITING SILVER STRAND BEACH WITH FRIENDS WHEN HE PROPOSED ON THE BEACH MUCH TO OUR SURPRISE . WE ARE NOW INVITED TO THEIR WEDDING IN AMERICA AND WAS LOOKING FOR A BEAUTIFUL PICTURE OF SILVER STRANDS AS A WEDDING PRESENT IF I COULD GET IN CONTACT WITH A GOOD ARTIST OR A CONTACT WHERE TO BUY ONE???

I have afriend who lives in Glenn near Carrigart. I have spent many a happy time in the pubs and surrounding area. The people are wonderful . My relatives live by the Silver Strand in Malinbeg. Another beautiful region. There are several golf courses in Carrigart , I do not play the game but I would recommend the coures to anyone who would like to play courses with beautiful views. by the little bridge on the way to your house is where my daughter nearly put my car in the ditch. Mind you I was teaching her to drive at the time?????? I live on figart, first house. beautiful piccies
