After the lunch break in St. Jean de Luz, we resumed our one-hour drive to San Sebastian, the first of three cities in the Spanish Pays Basques which borders the Bay of Biscay in the Atlantic Ocean. We stayed here for two nights. It's quite a big and modern city but rather quiet. The promenade along the waterfront is very nice and pleasant. The main attraction in this region is the popular tapas and pintxo (or pintcho, the "x" sounds like "ch") meals. While the tapas is a large meal dish, the pintxo is a small and bite-sized dish. Foodies often stop in one bar to have a pintxo and a small beverage before hopping to another bar...
