Upon returning to Hanoi from the Northeastern region, we took a day trip to visit the Ninh Binh province in the Red River Delta region,75 miles southeast of Hanoi. The highlight of the destination is the Phat Diem Cathedral which was built with stone and wood in 1891. It is in the Kim Son District. The Catholic church was well-maintained thru out the centuries. It is Thanh Huong's significant point of interest because her paternal grandmother used to worship at this church in the early 1900s. We also visited Trang An District which is famous for caves and beautiful river rides with occasional stops to visit the temples.
