We visited the still-active volcano while in Taormina accompanied with a nice late lunch/wine-stating combo at the Gambino vineyard. One can hear the rumbling of it from a distance. The volcano is still a young one (five hundred thousand years, relatively speaking). The last eruption was in early 2000. It continues to wreak havoc to the area once in a while...
