After I left Kyoto to fly home, the rest of the group continued on their journey for an extended period by exploring Osaka. From Kyoto, they rode the limited express train (145Km, 2.5 hours, ~$25USD fare) heading northwest to Kinosaki-Onsen, a coastal town where they did onsen-hopping for several days. For a day trip, they also explored Amanoshidate, a quaint, rural coastal town, by taking a train ride (49Km, one hour) eastbound from Kinosaki-Onsen.
