We took refuge from the cold and wet weather of Northern California by escaping to the Hawaii islands in January. It was an excellent trip in all aspects. We were in Maui for five nights then headed for the island of Oahu visiting some high school friends for five days. Perfect weather with minimum humidity and occasional rains. Highlights of the trip were sightseeing of the humpback whales in the waters of Maui where they nursed their youngsters, hiking thru mystical bamboo forest in Hana, Maui, zipping across deep canyons on cable lines...
