We hiked the Calero County Park (CCP) side today from the Casa Loma Entrance which serves two parks, Rancho Canada Del Oro Open Space Preserve (RCDOOSP or OSP for short) and CCP. It's a 3.5-mile loop trail starting from the Little Llagas Creek Trailhead (Junction 24), headed east toward Bald Peak Trail (Junction 17) then southbound to Needlegrass Trail(Junction 16) toward Longwall Canyon Trail (Junction 23) and finally back to the same starting point. The trail starts out flat for 0.1 mile before elevating gradually (~10 degree angle) all the way to the peak of 1531' feet (Junction 16) with some steeper climb (~15 degree) leading to the peak. There are ample shady stretches along the way to stay cool. Needless to say, the flower blossoms are more and more pronounced at this time of the year. The hike took 2.5 hours. We started at 2PM with breezy springy air and sunny blue sky. By the way, this particular trail does not allow pet (but horse is ok, go figure!!!). According to the ranger, all open space preserves (OSP) do not allow pet. CCP allows pet at other entrances except at this particular one because its close vicinity to OSP...
