The Mother Lode country (Sonora, CA) is home to the splendid Pinecrest Lake. We went canoeing just in time last Sunday to witness the annual draining of the lake. The lake will be completely drained by March and will be mostly covered by several feet of snows. By spring time evey year, the lake will be full again with the snow run-off to restore its beauty once again. There is hiking trail around the lake which would take about two hours to complete...
